Island History

There is a great deal of history associated with Bremen Long Island, and several fascinating books worth consulting. In the 19th Century the island had a population of several hundred fishing facilities as well as boat builders.

As the mainland started to develop with small towns, roads, churches, merchants, and other convenient features, families gradually moved off the island and built homes in the Towns of Bremen and Waldoboro.

Today, only about twenty families have seasonal homes on the island, almost all on the southern end.

Use of Yurt

The Developer owns Lot #2 in the Flying Passage subdivision, which includes a circular structure called a yurt and a separate restroom building. The yurt has been set up for overnight stays, and includes cots and camping equipment. A lot buyer may arrange for the free use of the yurt prior to construction of a home.
